THE AUTOMATIC AGE
THE AUTIOMATIC AGE ( illustrated novel) is the story of a father and son navigating an automated apocalypse.
The future was supposed to be a mechanical utopia of automats, self-driving cars, food pills, and nostalgia machines, designed to create maximum comfort and efficiency for its human inhabitants. But this automated paradise has turned into a world where robot search teams find and remove the troublesome humans that clutter it with grim efficiency.
Now Kerion and his young son, Barry, are two of the few people left behind. They must find a way not only to survive, but to reclaim their humanity.
Shortlisted for the 2021 Manuela Dias Book Illustration Award!
BACKBONE OF NIGHT
The truth will send them on the run in a fight for survival beneath the sea of stars to the tower known as the BACKBONE OF NIGHT (Illustrated novel).
In the Automatic Age, the autovolts have swept the earth clean of most of its human inhabitants. Kerion and Barry are of the few survivors, mistaken as robots in the first purge because of Kerion’s prosthetics. Kerion fears that his son will grow up a lonely anomaly on an earth free of people. The discovery of a group of intentionalized fanatics may be the hope they need to reconnect with the human experience. But is it better to risk dangerous isolation or stay with a group of religious zealots?

RED EARTH
One Trunk Theatre premiered RED EARTH, a graphic novel/theatre hybrid May 8-18, 2019 at Prairie Theatre Exchange. The project featured a new play performed in a comic book style and the publication of its companion piece- a graphic novel illustrated by GMB Chomichuk. Red Earth is a collaboration led by Andraea Sartison and GMB Chomichuk, script written by Rick Chafe and Kristian Jordan. The world premiere was presented by Theatre Projects Manitoba in partnership with Prairie Theatre Exchange,.
In Red Earth the set becomes the pages of a graphic novel. As earth self-destructs, the audience witnesses the final effort of the human species’ survival: three astronauts sent to start over on Mars. While each has their own reason for accepting the mission, none are prepared for the consequences that await them on the red planet. A story of legacy, discovery and what makes us human.
This is an epistilary novella that allows the reader to decide truth will examining the evidence.
MOON PATROL
MOON PATROL keeps the monsters on the dark side of the moon. It also keeps a secret.
This 400 page graphic novel is a tale of magic, love, revenge on the surface of the moon.
This story of robots, sorcerers, cyborgs, androids, monsters, magic and love includes remixes of the Ramsund carving of 1030. The runestone depicts a portion of the central narrative of Sigurd that you can find in The Saga of the Volsungs. My mother was proud of her Icelandic heritage and always encouraged me in my youth to read the old sagas to “see where Tolkien got the good stuff”. Moon Patrol is a remix of Volsungs story with a pinch of the Arthurian Grail legend, a bit of Beowulf, a dash of Gilgamesh and a Brunhild/Brynhidr set at centre stage for good measure.
